Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup dairy-free chocolate chips or chopped chocolate. We like Hu's Kitchen Eating Evolved, Lily's Sweets or Enjoy Life. Regular works too if you're not dairy-free.
  • 2 ripe medium avocados , be sure your avocado is not overly ripe or underripe
  • ½ cup cacao powder
  • cup maple syrup you can also sub with sugar-free maple syrup, coconut nectar syrup, date syrup, yacon syrup or preferred liquid sweetener for low carb / keto
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened almond milk, or any milk. , or any milk.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch sea salt

To top (optional):

  • Dairy-free dark chocolate , grated. We like Hu's Kitchen, Eating Evolved, Lily's Sweets or Enjoy Life. Regular works too if you're not dairy-free.
  • Vegan whipped cream
  • Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate over a double-boiler over medium heat or in a microwave-safe bowl in 20 second increments, stirring extremely well in between to avoid burning / seizing. Once it is just melted, set aside to cool slightly while you blend the other ingredients.

  2. Meanwhile, add the avocado and remaining ingredients to the bowl of a food processor and blend until smooth. Add the melted and slightly cooled chocolate and continue blending until completely smooth. You may need to scrape the sides down a couple of times to ensure it is fully combined. Taste and adjust sweetener and cacao powder as needed.

  3. Divide the mixture into small glasses or bowls and chill in the fridge for an hour or two to set.
  4. Top with optional toppings and enjoy.
