Gingerbread Latte

This Gingerbread Latte is easy to make with a combination of warm spices like ginger, nutmeg and molasses that will make your mouth water! Skip the trip to Starbucks and stay cozy with this homemade copycat version that may melt your heart. Gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free and paleo-friendly with Whole30 options.

Ingredients

  • 3 shots of espresso or 1 cup strongly brewed coffee cold or hot
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus more for topping
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses , we use unsulphured blackstrap molasses. Omit if preferred or for Whole30 but molasses gives this latte that classic gingerbread flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or preferred sticky liquid sweetener , leave out for Whole30 or blend in a date.
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk or preferred milk

Optional toppings

  • Coconut whipped cream, whipped coconut cream , or regular whipped cream if not dairy-free
  • Gingerbread cookie / and crushed cookie crumbs , for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan  / pot, add the coffee, spices, molasses, vanilla and maple syrup and whisk together until combined. Bring to a low boil over medium heat or once the mixture is nice and hot.
  2. Meanwhile, add the milk to a milk frother or use a hand frother to froth until foamy.
  3. Pour the coffee mixture into two mugs and then pour the frothed milk overtop.
  4. Top with whipped cream, a dash of cinnamon, and garnish with a gingerbread cookie and crushed cookie crumbs.
