Ingredients

  • 1 12-ounce bag cranberries fresh or frozen rinsed and picked through
  • 2 medium apples peeled and diced
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • zest and juice from 1 orange

Instructions

  1. Add brown sugar, water and maple syrup in a medium saucepan over medium high heat, boil until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients into the saucepan and reduce the heat to medium.
  3. Simmer for about 25 to 30 minutes, until most of the cranberries have popped open and the apples are tender.
  4. Remove from the heat and let the sauce cool completely before serving. The sauce will thicken up more as it cools.
