Berry Smoothie Bowl

This Berry Smoothie Bowl is a healthy breakfast idea to start the day. It's easy to customize using your favorite berries & greens, and so delicious! Top it with your favorite fruit and nuts for extra protein and crunch. Naturally vegan, paleo, Whole30-friendly and dairy-free, and no added sugar, this summer treat is good for you and tastes amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water , or more depending on the consistency you prefer. You can also use coconut water or your favorite dairy-free milk (almond, cashew, coconut) of your choice.
  • 1 tablespoon hemps seeds , you can also sub with chia seeds, ground flax seeds or a mix of each. Or you can also add a scoop of plant-based protein powder - we like Sprout Living Simply Organic Pea Protein or Nuzest Clean Lean Protein in Just Natural
  • juice from 1/2 lemon , optional
  • pinch turmeric , optional
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen organic berries I get a blueberry, blackberry, raspberry strawberry mix
  • 1/2 cup organic baby spinach , loosely packed - can also use a mix of spinach and kale
  • 1/4 cup pitted cherries fresh or frozen - freel free to leave them out if you don't have any on hand
  • 1/2 cup frozen banana slices (about 1 small banana)

Toppings of choice (see post for more ideas)

  • Chia or hemp seeds
  • Coconut chips or coconut flakes
  • Sliced banana
  • Blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
  • Nuts or seeds of choice

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in your high-performance blender in the order as they appear starting with the liquid first. Blend until smooth, adding additional liquid as needed. (As little as necessary so your smoothie will be thick). Taste and add sweetener of your choice, if desired. Blend again.

  2. Pour into bowls and add your toppings of choice.

    Serve and enjoy.

Recipe Notes

*I don't usually add any sweetener as I find the berries, cherries and banana are sweet enough but you can definitely add preferred liquid sweetener of choice after tasting it.
