My husband has two:
The first one is Reese’s peanut butter cups.
The second? D O N U T S.
He is utterly and completely addicted to them and not the baked donuts that I’ve made for him in the past either. Nope, he likes ’em deep fried and covered with a sugary glaze.
So when I had a chance to try out a few jars of Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate, you can guess who was the first to immediately grab a jar. Have you guys tried it yet???

The few yeasted donut recipes that I’ve tried in the past have always been a hit or a miss and I really didn’t want to set myself up with all that work and hot oil to come out with another failed donut attempt. I am not usually a fan of deep frying but there are just those recipes that make it completely worth it — and this is totally it!
I was always intrigued by those refrigerated biscuit donut recipes that I’ve seen floating around the web and I finally decided this was the perfect chance to try it out.
And you know what? I’m so glad I did because these Easy Homemade Fried Donuts are soooo freakin’ good and basically foolproof!
Even my husband joined in the fun and helped me to deep fry a few.
We start out with your favorite store-bought refrigerated biscuit dough. No mixing or yeast needed. Just grab a small cookie cutter and cut out the center.
They fry up soft and fluffy on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. I used a dutch oven and kept the oil consistent at 375 degrees. This ensures that the donuts don’t get greasy and fry up nice and puffy.

- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough 8 per can
- frying oil Rice Bran, Vegetable, Canola, Grapeseed etc.
- 1/4 cup Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Spread
- 1 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk or more as needed depending on consistency desired
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- Heat oil on medium-high heat in a large pot or dutch oven until it has reached 375 degrees (I used a candy thermometer). You can also test if it's ready using the tip of wooden chopsticks or a wooden spoon.
Remove biscuits from tube and lay out on a cutting board. Using a 1 inch round cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out a hole from the middle of each biscuit.
- Line a cookie wire rack with a few sheets of paper towels to absorb the oil.
- Gently place a couple of the doughnuts at a time into the hot oil. When they start to rise and turn golden, flip them over immediately using tongs or a wooden spoon (it should take less than a minute).
- The second side will turn golden very quickly and faster than the first side.
- Immediately transfer the fully fried donuts to paper towels to blot excess oil.
- Continue with the remaining donuts until everything is fried. You can also fry the donut holes.
- Make the glaze - In a medium bowl whisk together powdered sugar, peanut butter, and salt. Add 1 tablespoon of milk and vanilla extract. Whisk to combine. Mixture may be thick. Add more milk, a tablespoon at a time, until the glaze is thick and just pourable.
- Dip each donut into the peanut butter glaze. Shake off some of the excess glaze. Return to the wire rack to dry. Repeat and dunk again for a thicker coating. Add sprinkles if desired. Allow to rest for a few minutes for the frosting to harden slightly.
Donuts are best served warm and fresh! You may have to reheat in the microwave for a few seconds if they have cooled down.
