Save money and a trip to the store by making your own DIY custom blend of Apple Pie Spice so you can make plenty of pies all season long!
I used to buy premixed Apple Pie Spice and Pumpkin Pie Spice (recipe coming soon) but ever since I started making my own a few years ago, I save myself some money and an extra trip to the store when a recipe calls for them.
Plus, by making your own spice blends, you can tweak the amounts and customize them to meet your taste.
If you love ginger or cardamom — just go for it and add a little more in.
It’s also great in any dessert that you want to add a little bit of warmth and depth to. Muffins, oatmeal, apple crisps, baked apples and so much more!
So the next time a recipe calls for Apple Pie Spice, you can make your own big batch to last you all season or just enough for that one recipe you’ve been dying to try 🙂
- 3 Tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- Whisk all the ingredients together in a small bowl.
- Store in a small, airtight container.
If you prefer more of one spice or less of another, feel free to adjust to your liking.

Great idea, Kelly! I’m always reaching for all the spices you’ve listed here when making fall desserts…it’d be nice to just grab one jar and use a heaping scoop of that! 😀

I am loving the cheeky cardamon in this spice mix. I have never had apple pie spice mix, they don’t sell it in the UK but I can see the appeal of it. Sounds lovely 😀
