Healthy Zucchini Fries in the Air Fryer
Looking for ways to use up some garden zucchini? We are big zucchini fans and instead of making roasted zucchini recipes in the oven, we love making these Air Fryer Zucchini Fries during the summer so we don’t have to heat up the kitchen in the hot summer heat.
The great thing about having an air fryer is that you don’t have to use much oil and clean up is a breeze! It’s by far our favorite kitchen appliance and not only do we make a ton of zucchini fries, but we love making roasted air fryer broccoli, cauliflower and even bacon in the air fryer! A total game changer!
Why we love this air fryer recipe
These Air Fryer Zucchini Fries are crispy, flavorful and a healthier alternative to regular fries. Plus, they’re easy to make in an air fryer with just a few simple ingredients.
You can enjoy these air fryer roasted zucchini fries as a low carb, keto snack or side. Or make a double batch for your next summer BBQ, potluck or game day party.
Ingredients you need:
Classic zucchini fries are typically made with a combination of all purpose flour and panko crumbs for the batter. Since we are trying to keep this zucchini fries recipe gluten-free and grain-free, we are going to be using only 5 ingredients:
- zucchini – you’re going to need 2 medium-sized zucchini
- egg (sub with almond milk to make zucchini fries vegan)
- almond meal – replaces the all purpose flour in this recipe to keep it grain-free.
- grated Parmesan cheese – adds flavour and helps make the fries crunchy. You can sub with Vegan Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast for dairy free / Whole30 Paleo Zucchini fries)
- garlic salt (can also sub with garlic powder + sea salt)
OPTIONAL SEASONINGS BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:
- dried Italian seasoning – helps make these Whole30 Zucchini Fries that much tastier
- smoked paprika – adds a tiny hint of heat for an extra punch of flavour
- if you want your zucchini fries extra crispy without panko crumbs, you can also dip in some crushed pork rinds OR crushed Simple Mills Crackers and dip the zucchini slices into them after the egg wash

Can you freeze air fried zucchini
I wouldn’t recommend freezing air fryer zucchini parmesan fries since zucchini has a high water content and can get mushy when frozen.
If you want to make these ahead of time, simply air fry and store them in the fridge in an airtight container. To reheat, just bake in a 400 degree oven for about 10 minutes or air fryer for 4 minutes.
