INGREDIENTS YOU NEED TO MAKE CRISPY SWEET POTATO FRIES
Sweet potatoes: In order to follow this recipe exactly, you will need 2lbs or 4 medium-large sweet potatoes. However if you want to use more or less, then all you have to do is adjust the amounts you use for all ingredients.
Olive oil: I prefer using olive oil for my baked sweet potato fries to get the perfect texture.
Garlic powder: I like to make sure I add garlic powder to spice up the flavor of the other ingredients.
Salt and pepper: I always add salt and black pepper as an addition to create an extra delicious seasoning.
OPTIONAL DIPS:
Avocado Dip
1 avocado
½ lime
1 tsp fresh coriander, finely chopped
Salt and pepper
Cashew Cheese Dip
¼ cup cashews
¼ cup plant milk
3 tbsp nutritional yeast
Pinch of smoked paprika
¼ tsp garlic powder
HOW TO MAKE CRISPY SWEET POTATO FRIES
- PREHEAT OVEN: To 400 degrees F.
- WASH AND PEEL: (or leave skins on) sweet potatoes and cut into matchstick slices, about ¼ inch thick. Make sure they are cut into similar sized pieces.
- PLACE IN A BOWL: Toss the sweet potatoes in oil, garlic, salt and pepper and then make sure they are evenly coated. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and divide the fries between them. You don’t want to overload the trays so make sure they have space to cook.
- PLACE IN THE OVEN FOR 15 MINUTES: Flip fries over with a spatula. Swap the trays over in the oven from top to bottom and vice versa. Leave to cook for another 15-20 minutes until they are tender but crisp on the edges.
- MAKE THE DIPS: Mash the avocado in a bowl with the back of a fork until smooth with the juice of ½ lime. Add the coriander and then season with salt and pepper.
- PLACE THE INGREDIENTS FOR THE CASHEW CHEESE DIP IN A FOOD PROCESSOR: Blend the dip until it is smooth. If you don’t have a high speed blender soak them in hot water for 30 mins then drain.
- REMOVE THE FRIES FROM THE OVEN: Sprinkle the fries with some extra salt and pepper and finely chopped fresh coriander and serve with dips!
HOW TO COOK SWEET POTATOES IN AN AIR FRYER
Follow this air fryer sweet potato fries recipe by lightly coating the air fryer with avocado spray or olive oil spray. After that, all you have to do is cook it in batches in a single layer on 385F for 12-18 minutes, shaking halfway through (or longer as needed), until the fries are crispy with a few lightly browned edges, watching them carefully so they do not burn.
Remove the fries to a serving platter, sprinkle with some fresh parsley and serve with chipotle aioli or your favorite dipping sauce.
