Healthy and filled with nutrients, this recipe is great for lunch or adding to a main course for dinner. Paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper truly transform this easy recipe!

Ingredients you need:
- Almond flour: For the grain-free breading. You can sub with gluten-free oat flour. Gluten-free 1-1 flour or all purpose flour will work too if there are no dietary concerns.
- Asparagus spears are the main components of this recipe. We like to shop organic asparagus spears when we can find it! The fresh flavors of asparagus really shine for this fry recipe.
- Salt is great for some basic seasoning. A lot of salt is not needed at all as the asparagus speaks for itself, so just a large pinch will do.
- Black Pepper is also essential for this recipe as it provides a complex flavor for the asparagus fries. Freshly cracked is recommended, but any type of ground pepper will do!
- Garlic powder is completely optional, but we recommend it to really kick this recipe to the next level.
- Paprika, also optional, but really brings these fries up a notch. Definitely recommended, and it’s a great way to use this pantry ingredient.
- Eggs: You’ll need to whisk 2 large eggs for the egg-wash. whisked. For a vegan version, sub non-dairy milk, aquafaba or flax eggs. To make flax egg, whisk together 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds with 5 tablespoons of water until combined. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it turns into a gel-like texture.
How To Make Asparagus Fries
We seriously love how easy this recipe comes together! Just a few basic steps, and this healthy and easy recipe will be ready in less than 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven and prepare for baking: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet with nonstick spray. Cut about an inch off the bottom of asparagus spears.
- Mix the coating: On a plate, combine the almond flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper.
- Make the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, create an egg wash by whisking two eggs together. Dip asparagus spears in egg wash, being careful not to over saturate the spears.
- Coat in batter: Dip the asparagus spears in the almond flour mixture while making sure to cover the entire asparagus. Transfer to baking sheet.
- Cook: Bake the breaded asparagus spears for about 15-20 minutes, flipping half way. The asparagus fries are finished once they turn golden in color.
- Garnish & Serve: Transfer the fries to a serving platter and sprinkle them with coarse salt and chopped fresh parsley. Serve them with your desired dipping sauce(s) and enjoy!
Air Fryer Instructions
- Heat Air Fryer: If your air fryer requires preheating, preheat it to 380°F.
- Mix the coating: On a plate, combine the almond flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt and black pepper.
- Make the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, create an egg wash by whisking two eggs together. Dip asparagus spears in egg wash, being careful not to over saturate the spears.
- Coat in batter: Dip the asparagus spears in the almond flour mixture while making sure to cover the entire asparagus.
- Place in Air Fryer Basket: Working in batches (depending on the size of your air fryer), place the asparagus in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not crowded or overlapping. Spray generously with cooking oil spray.
- Cook: Air fry at 380°F for 10-13 minutes (or longer), flipping halfway through and spraying again, until the fries are golden brown or until they’ve reached your desired crispness.
- Garnish & Serve: Transfer the fries to a serving platter and sprinkle them with coarse salt and chopped fresh parsley. Serve them with your desired dipping sauce(s) and enjoy!
Tips for Success
- Make sure to use a plate for the almond flour, or it will be very difficult to bread the asparagus!
