How To Make Avocado Toast
Follow these basic steps and this recipe will be finished within minutes.
Classic Avocado Toast
- Get a slice of bread and toast it. While the bread is toasting, simply scoop out the flesh of one pitted avocado while making sure to get really close to the skin.
- Set the scooped avocado to the side.
- After the bread has reached the desired level of crisp, then mash the avocado on toast with a spoon. Mix in some salt and pepper, and top the toast with preferred greens, such as arugula!
Add a Hard-Boiled or Fried Egg
- Just toast a slice of bread. Scoop out the flesh of half an avocado. Slice the grapes vertically. Set aside.
- In the meantime, fry an egg in a frying pan drizzled with oil. We like to cook our egg over-easy, but the egg can be cooked any preferred way. Or you can also boil your egg if you don’t like fried. Here is our favorite way to make hard-boiled eggs.
- Once the toast has reached preferred level of crip, mash the avocado on the toast. Season with salt and pepper and add the sliced tomatoes to the toast.
- Top all of the ingredients with a cooked egg and enjoy!
Enjoy it with Bacon
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Roast bacon for 15 minutes or until crispy and dark brown. Remove the bacon from oven and toast the slice of bread.
- Vertically slice the grape tomatoes and half an avocado. Scoop the green flesh out of the fruit. Mash the avocado on toasted bread. Add salt and pepper.
- Add the tomatoes to the avocado mash in addition to two slices of bacon that have been broken in half. Add greens on top of the bacon and enjoy!
Can I make this breakfast recipe in advance?
We do not really advise making this recipe ahead due to the avocado not being as fresh on the toast. Prep the ingredients, though, such as slicing the avocado and tomatoes! The bacon can also be cooked in advance and reheated.
So can you freeze avocado?
Yes! To freeze avocado, simply store a whole avocado in the freezer once it is ripe. Then when you’re ready to eat it, remove the avocado from the fridge and let it thaw. Slice and enjoy – good as new!
